Join Marybeth, the creative mind behind Custom Quilts, for a quilting class. Where: American Legion Post 832 Address: Rte 12E Cape Vincent, NY 13618 (Across from Firehouse) Date: July 17, 2010 Time: 8 AM to 5:00PM Note: These classes will be held every third Saturday of the month until further notice Every Saturday will introduce a different pattern to tackle. Each participant will have the opportunity to take home a finished Wallhanging, Twin or Lap quilt at the end of the day! Bring your own sewing machine, cutting tools, scissors, thread, fabric, and bagged lunch for a full day of fun and creativity. These classes will feature one on one help with every aspect of quilting for the beginner which will include fabric selection and coordination, cutting instructions, ironing "do's" and "don'ts", sewing machine maintenance and accuracy stitching secrets. The cost of each class is $25.00 per person. Fabric must be purchased prior to the class so a materials list will be published each month. You may buy your fabric wherever you like, but are more than welcome to visit our fabric shop for your selections. (See end of page for shop location. Please call with questions.) click on picture to see an enlarged picture Morning Star Morning Star We will be making a Twin Sized Morning Star quilt in July. Bring your Eleanor Burns' Flying Geese square up ruler with you, if you have it (Size 2 1/2" X 4 1/2") We will be "fussy cutting" the center of the stars for those of you who desire it, so look for large print material with a pattern that fits nicely in a 4 1/2" frame. Pull all other colors for your quilt from your center block material. If you are not interested in the fussy cut centers, you can make the star centers and points out of one material. (just add together the fabric requirements) You will need: Background 2 1/2 yds Chain block 1 1/8 yds Star Points 1 1/3 yds Star center 3/4 yd first border 3/4 yds second border 2 yds borders can be from any combination of star/background third border 1 5/8 yds fabrics binding 3/4 yd As always, PLEASE call so I can reserve your spot and feel free to ask any questions.
